Sorry to hear this Kathleen. I normally wait 2 or 3 days if I don't feel too unwell generally. Do you have any other symptoms.

worth mentioning to the gp, as Mtx does compromise your immune system and you might need antibiotics, whereas before Mtx you might've thrown it off!! Hope its better very soon, lxx Always be aware that what you do might hurt others........and if it could, do nothing without careful consideration of the consequences

Yes it might mean not taking your mtx till the throat clears up-it is something I was told to be aware of when I was first diagnosed. I think maybe a talk with your gp? YES I'VE CHANGED, PAIN DOES THAT TO PEOPLE.

Kathleen, I would see your GP if you can. I am very lucky that I have a really supportive GP, who wants to look at any possible infection before it takes a hold. You should also let your Rheumy nurse know, if you have one, especially if you are prescribed anti biotics as you should not have the MTX if you have an infection. Your GP may have a different view, but it's worth a visit. Hope you feel much better soon, Jan x

If it hasn't gone after day two I would tell the GP- they may want to check your white blood cells before you take your MTX dose.

I went to see GP today . I felt really ill last night and felt like i was going to get the flue. After a couple of phone calls the nurse got an appointment . He took my pulse and temp said they seemed normal. The nurse took blood tests . She said if any problems they would let me know. My throat feels a bit better but i still dont feel well. I have been on mtx for about three and a half years and had no problems with it .Pleased i went to GP .Thanks all ! Kathleen Mc.

My sore throat doesn'nt seem to have anything to do with MTX. Just a really bad cough and i felt terrible. My APR is up to 10 its been 3 for long time .Is this inflammation ? Kathleen Mc.

Hi Kathleen When you take methotrexate your immune system is weakened making you more susceptible to infection and harder to fight it off when you do succumb! When you say APR do you mean ESR or CRP? Both are inflammatory markers meaning there may be signs of increased inflammation. Either way 10 is not high so I wouldn't worry at this stage. Often when the white cell count goes up to try to fight infection there is a strong likelihood that inflammatory markers increase as a matter of course. Are any of your joints showing signs of inflammation? Lyn x
